What data are being collected? How is that data being collected? Information is being collected on your usage of the PLAY app for the purpose of the PLAY research study. You or a study team member entered an Access Code Number into the app when you first installed the app. A secure master file linking your name with your Access Code will be maintained in a confidential computer file accessible only to the scientists at LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center. All data will be stored securely and made available only to persons conducting the study. Every effort will be made to maintain the confidentiality of your study records. However, someone from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Louisiana State University, or the National Institutes of Health (the sponsor) may inspect and/or copy records related to the study.
Your usage data will be collected from this app, including when you open and close the app, when you open and close videos on the app, and when you click buttons on the app including the stars for each week’s lesson. Data will be stored for 5 years. Participation is voluntary, so participants may stop using the app at any time. Data that have already been collected from a withdrawn participant will be used, unless a specific request is otherwise received. If a user wishes to revoke consent and/or request deletion of data, please contact PLAYstudy@pbrc.edu.
What is the legal basis for the collection? You provided written informed consent to participate in the PLAY research study. Enrollment in the research study granted you an Access Code to install and use the app.
For which specific purposes are the data collected? The usage data that we collect are used for providing and improving the Service for the purpose of the PLAY research study.
Which third parties will have access to the information? Will any third party collect data through widgets (e.g. social buttons) and integrations (e.g. Facebook Connect)? These services include YouTube where the videos are posted as private links and Google Forms where you enter information about your acceptability and usage of the app. The Google Forms do not request identifiable information, and you provided written informed consent to complete these surveys.
